THE PRINCIPLES THAT GUIDE US

When we started New England Everyday Goods we had many ideas about what this business should be...

After making several mental and written lists, we distilled all those aspirations down to ten that we feel very strongly about – ones that we are committed to accomplishing by consciously conducting all aspects of our business with these in mind every day.

  1. Integrity. To us, this is everything. It means doing the right thing, even when that might have negative short-term consequences.  We are proud of the fact that all our colleagues share our same commitment to integrity.
  2. Collaboration. We live in an increasingly competitive world; fair competition is good and healthy for business. Whenever possible, we try to work through competitive situations so everyone comes out a winner, especially our customers.
  3. Authenticity. Being dyed-in-the-wool New Englanders we expect things to hold true to the claims they make. We don’t like to be misled, so we make sure the products we offer represent genuine, honest-to-goodness value and practicality.
  4. Uniqueness. Starting off as a one-of-a-kind concept is relatively easy; staying pleasantly different over time is more challenging. We are committed to continually finding out-of-the-ordinary – and extraordinary – New England made goods to share with you.
  5. Satisfaction. Having this business is truly a satisfying experience for us. We come in every morning feeling very fortunate to work with wonderful suppliers and share their goods – and stories – with our delightful customers.
  6. Sustainability. Although this has become an overused buzz word, we have always been concerned about waste and the misuse of our planet’s precious natural resources.  We consciously look for products that are made from reclaimed and recycled materials, as well as goods from suppliers that practice thoughtful stewardship of the raw materials they use in their production processes.
  7. Practicality. Nowadays everyone is being more careful how they spend their hard-earned dollars. Our goal is to offer exceptional quality, useful products that can be enjoyed every day…and on special occasions, too. When you want to indulge in a little bit of frivolity, you can count on us to have interesting things that will bring happiness to you and to those you favor with gifts.
  8. Education.  In our business we are always asking questions to learn all we can about the people, the companies, and the goods they produce. By providing you with plenty of useful and interesting information about the products we offer, our hope is that you’ll make purchase decisions that have a positive impact on many levels.
  9. Ingenuity. New Englanders have a reputation for being clever, resourceful folks. And we look for products that embody those attributes whenever possible. Whatever you're looking for, you’ll always find things here that combine utility with a bit of “Yankee Ingenuity.”
  10. Simplicity. In a world that seems  to grow more complex and complicated all the time, we strive to stick to the basics. We look for functional items that are easy to understand and easy to use. We prefer to keep things simple like they were in the good old days
